An Infographic: Voom’s 100-Day Perspective

Today marks Voom’s 100th day of service in São Paulo, Brazil! And, while we are just getting started on our mission of elevating travelers’ daily lives by elevating their daily travels, it’s clear that we are already having a significant impact. As we celebrate this milestone, it seemed like a good time to reflect on the impact we are already having in São Paulo.

Looking at the data we have collected since we launched, here are some things we’ve learned:

  • Our riders prefer to fly mid-week when their schedules are likely the most hectic. At Voom, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the most popular days to fly.
  • Perhaps not surprising, early morning and late evening flights are preferred as Paulistas attempt to escape the rush-hour traffic. To be precise, the most popular times to fly are between 9am to 10am as well as from 5pm to 8pm.
  • As ground transportation out to the airports is unbearable, travelers are looking to the skies for a viable solution. Our most popular routes are from the Faria Lima region to Guarulhos Airport and from Campo de Marte to Congonhas Airport.
  • Flights times are a fraction of the time travelers spend traveling via car. The average flight duration is around 11 minutes. This is just plain awesome since it could conceivably take double the amount of time to find a parking space in downtown São Paulo.

“We started Voom to bring a convenient, practical and inexpensive air transportation experience to urban areas that so desperately need an alternative to traditional ground transportation. According to a recent survey of our riders, it seems like this is becoming a reality. Our riders most often describe the Voom service as “convenient, practical and inexpensive,” — exactly as we had hoped,” said Uma Subramanian, Voom’s CEO. Another positive reason to use the Voom service is the view, of course. Flying over beautiful sites such as Paulista Avenue, Ibirapuera Park and Ponte Estaiada are just part of the experience. These are the most-often-photographed sites by our passengers.
