Senior ML Engineer, MLOps Infrastructure

WAYFINDER

Our Wayfinder team is building scalable, certifiable autonomy systems to power the next generation of commercial aircraft. Our team of experts is driving the maturation of machine learning and other core technologies for autonomous flight; we are creating a reference architecture that includes hardware, software, and a data-driven development process to allow aircraft to perceive and react to their environment. Autonomous flight is transforming the transportation industry, and our team is at the heart of this revolution.

The Opportunity/Role Description

As a Senior ML Engineer, MLOps Infrastructure, you will build and maintain our next-generation AI software and infrastructure, reporting to the Manager of AI Algorithms. This role powers the  training, deployment, and evaluation of our AI products for aerospace applications. In this role, you will be a key driver in building the future of autonomous flight. You will have the autonomy to be hands-on, drive innovation, and foster a collaborative and creative agile environment.

Responsibilities 

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable MLOps infrastructure to support the entire machine learning lifecycle, from data processing to model training, evaluation and deployment. 
• Implement robust tracking, monitoring, and observability solutions for system health and performance.
• Develop and maintain custom software to accelerate tooling and AI capabilities.
• Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable production-level code following best practices.
• Collaborate with Systems, Data engineering, Flight Lab (platform) teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining ML infrastructure and MLOps systems.  
• Extensive experience in Python, Pytorch,  CUDA.
• Proficiency with  on-premise clusters  with containerization, GPU Scheduling and and orchestration tools (e.g. Docker, SLURM, Dagster, Airflow).
• Experience experiment tracking, model registry, monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Grafana, WandB, MLflow).
• Strong communication skills and presentation abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with model optimization, quantization and deployment formats like ONNX, OpenVino, TensortRT.
• Experience with a variety of database technologies, including vector databases ( e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Milvus, SQLite).
• Familiarity with open source LLM and open source serving solution (e.g. vLLM or llama.cpp). 
• A Passion for aviation and autonomous system.

Compensation:
