WAYFINDER

Our Wayfinder team is building scalable, certifiable autonomy systems to power the next generation of commercial aircraft. Our team of experts is driving the maturation of machine learning and other core technologies for autonomous flight; we are creating a reference architecture that includes hardware, software, and a data-driven development process to allow aircraft to perceive and react to their environment. The Opportunity/Role Description

As Wayfinder's Senior AI Data Engineer, you will own parts of AI/Data pipelines with a focus on improving data understanding, quality and efficiency including auto-labeling. You will quickly prototype new projects, and take the promising ones to production.

Role Responsibilities

  • Improve data distribution and quality understanding for ML models, training, and evaluation pipelines for vision-based flight capabilities in commercial aircraft
  • Develop ML models and pipelines utilizing foundation models like VLMs to auto label data.
  • Conduct rigorous evaluations of data and labeling quality, assessing effectiveness, efficiency of training and accuracy and coverage of testing
  • Contribute to data mining/active learning, metrics, visualization, and validation to improve, evaluate data pipelines
  • Write high quality, product level code that is easy to maintain and test following standard methodologies
  • Collaborate with multiple teams (Data/Labeling, Validation), and ML teams in the global Airbus Organization

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or equivalent industry experience) in computer science or a related discipline
    • 7 or more years of relevant experience 
  • 5+ years of industry experience working as a CV/ML perception software engineer in the field of autonomous vehicles, robotics, or related fields
  • Experience in developing on or using deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
  • Experience in data auto labeling and active learning pipelines  for production
  • Extensive experience in Python
  • Good communication skills

Good To Have

  • Passion for aviation and autonomous systems
  • Experience with LLM/VLM, OpenVocabulary Vision models, RL, and other emerging ML technologies
  • Experience with data pipelines and visualization of embeddings, similarity/uniqueness , natural language  search

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $156,000 to $195,000 annually, plus a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), and flight training. Your exact compensation will be determined by your location and experience.
