Monark Intern

Sunnyvale, CA

Founded in 2015, Acubed is the Silicon Valley innovation center of Airbus. As a global leader in aerospace, Airbus aims to make things fly. Our mission is to provide a lens into the future for the industry, transforming risk into opportunity to build the future of flight now.

At Acubed, we strive to propel innovation to market faster, broaden the talent pool in emerging aerospace careers and simultaneously help drive a culture change across Airbus.

Monark is leveraging distributed, connected sensing to vastly improve weather forecasting and the sustainability of commercial aviation. To make weather and climate knowledge usable and applicable to Airbus products Monark combines Airbus’s product and market knowledge to build actionable data insights that improve strategic decisions across the company and for the aviation industry.

Sustainable growth is critical to the future of the aviation industry and life on Earth. By accelerating global weather sensing at scale, the Monark team aims to help future-proof both. To do so, the team is focused on scaling up weather-related measurements using commercial aircraft, weather balloons and autonomous flying platforms in order to directly and significantly benefit both weather forecasting and commercial aviation.

In addition, we have an othermill, 3d-printers, and a laser cutter for in-house prototyping. The handling of data will be balanced with the hardware design, so a background in data analytics as well as rapid prototyping would be ideal.
